Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-10-12

Purchases are not yet open. Books marked “coming soon” cannot yet be bought. These Terms govern your use of the Site now and will govern every Order placed once checkout opens.

1. About these Terms

1.1 These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of qootbooks.com (the “Site”) and every Order you place on it. By using the Site you agree to these Terms. When you place an Order you will be asked to confirm your acceptance of them at checkout.

1.2 The following policies form part of these Terms: the Privacy Policy, the Refunds and Cancellations Policy and the Delivery Policy (together, the “Policies”). If a Policy conflicts with these Terms, these Terms prevail.

1.3 Words defined in clause 3 have the same meaning in the Policies.

2. Who we are

2.1 Qoot Books is a trading name of Qoote FZE, a Free Zone Establishment registered in Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone, United Arab Emirates.

  • Trading licence 4416138.01 (formation no. 4416138, formed 16 October 2024)
  • Media licence 6404076 (National Media Authority), media file MF-02-6303442
  • Address: Business Centre, Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates
  • Email: hello@qootbooks.com

3. Definitions and interpretation

3.1 In these Terms and the Policies:

  • “Qoote”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Qoote FZE, trading as Qoot Books.
  • “you” and “your” mean the person who uses the Site or places an Order.
  • “Business Day” means Monday to Friday, other than a public holiday in the United Arab Emirates.
  • “Checkout Email” means the email address you give when you place an Order.
  • “Digital Book” means a book in electronic form offered on the Site, in EPUB format unless its Product Page says otherwise.
  • “Download Link” means a link we send to the Checkout Email for downloading a Digital Book under an Order.
  • “Licence” means the licence described in clause 6.
  • “Order” means an order for one or more Digital Books placed through checkout on the Site, including by redeeming a Redemption Code.
  • “Order ID” means the unique reference we give each Order.
  • “Payment Provider” means the third party that processes payments for Orders.
  • “Product Page” means the page of the Site that describes a Digital Book.
  • “Redemption Code” means a code supplied with a printed book that can be redeemed on the Site for a Digital Book at a reduced price or at no charge.
  • “Refund” has the meaning given in the Refunds and Cancellations Policy.
  • “Rights Holders” means the authors, publishers and other owners of rights in the Digital Books and in the other content described in clause 11.1.

3.2 Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation. “Including” means including without limitation. A reference to a clause is to a clause of the document in which the reference appears, unless stated otherwise.

4. What we sell

4.1 We sell licences to Digital Books, delivered by email. We do not sell printed books unless a Product Page expressly says so. Where a printed edition of a book exists, it is sold by its publisher or a bookseller, not by us.

4.2 The title, edition, language and format of a Digital Book stated on its Product Page, and any statement there that it is protected by technical measures, form part of the contract for that Digital Book. Please check them before you buy.

4.3 A Product Page may include a free sample of a book. A sample is content of the Site, not a Digital Book supplied to you, and is subject to clauses 11 and 12.

5. Ordering, prices and payment

5.1 An Order is placed when you complete checkout and either the Payment Provider confirms your payment or nothing is payable. Before you complete checkout you will be asked to confirm that you accept these Terms and that you understand that a Digital Book is delivered immediately and that its sale is final once it has been delivered, except as set out in the Refunds and Cancellations Policy.

5.2 Prices on the Site are shown in UAE dirhams (AED) and include UAE value added tax where it applies. Any other tax that applies to your Order because of where you are is calculated at checkout and shown before you pay. The total shown at checkout is the amount you pay.

5.3 Payments are processed by the Payment Provider. We do not see or store your full card details.

5.4 We may hold an Order for a payment or fraud check before delivering it. If we do, we will tell you by email to the Checkout Email and, within five (5) Business Days of the Order, either deliver it or cancel it and return the full amount you paid.

5.5 We may cancel an Order that has not yet been delivered if we reasonably suspect fraud, or if the Order was placed at a price or on terms that plainly result from an error on a Product Page. If we do, we will return the full amount you paid. We will not cancel an Order on these grounds once it has been delivered.

5.6 After you place an Order we send a confirmation to the Checkout Email. That confirmation is your invoice for the Order.

5.7 Redemption. What a Redemption Code gives you, a Digital Book at a reduced price or at no charge, is stated where the code is offered. We may refuse a Redemption Code that we reasonably believe was obtained, or is being used, in breach of these Terms. An Order placed with a Redemption Code is otherwise an Order like any other. A Redemption Code has no cash value and cannot be exchanged or refunded. If a Redemption Code does not work, tell us at hello@qootbooks.com.

6. Your licence

6.1 Digital Books are licensed to you, not sold. When an Order is delivered, you receive a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download each Digital Book in it, to read it for your own personal, non-commercial use on devices you own or control, and to keep a backup copy for that purpose. Personal use includes using reading, accessibility and assistant tools for your own use, provided the Digital Book is not made available to others.

6.2 Subject to clause 6.1, and except as expressly permitted by applicable law, you must not:

(a) sell, rent, lend, give, share, publish, upload, transmit or otherwise distribute a Digital Book or any part of it;

(b) remove, alter or obscure any Order ID, watermark, copyright notice or other notice in a Digital Book;

(c) remove, disable or circumvent any technical measure that protects a Digital Book;

(d) use a Digital Book or any part of it to train, fine-tune or otherwise develop any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model, or make it available to anyone for that purpose; or

(e) use a Digital Book for any commercial purpose.

6.3 Some Digital Books may be protected by technical measures. Where a Digital Book is, its Product Page says so.

6.4 Every Digital Book file we deliver carries the Order ID of the Order under which it was supplied. The Order ID allows us to identify that Order, and therefore its purchaser, from any copy of the file.

6.5 The Rights Holders remain the owners of the works. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any Digital Book to you.

7.1 We deliver an Order by sending a Download Link to the Checkout Email, usually immediately and always within 24 hours of payment confirmation or, where nothing was payable, of completing checkout, except where the Order is held under clause 5.4. The details are in the Delivery Policy.

7.2 Download Links are unique to an Order. A Download Link expires and allows a limited number of downloads, as set out in the Delivery Policy. You should download each Digital Book and keep your own copy as soon as you receive it.

7.3 On request, we will resend a Download Link for a delivered Order to the Checkout Email, for as long as we are able to. We cannot guarantee that a Digital Book will remain available for download indefinitely, for example if a Rights Holder withdraws it or if we cease trading.

7.4 You are responsible for giving a correct Checkout Email at which you can receive mail. A request to send an Order to a different address is dealt with under the Delivery Policy.

8. Refunds

8.1 Because a Digital Book cannot be returned once delivered, sales are final. If something goes wrong with an Order we will put it right by resending, replacing or correcting what you received. If we cannot, a Refund may be due under the Refunds and Cancellations Policy, which sets out when a Refund is issued.

9. No accounts

9.1 There are no user accounts on the Site. Each Order is identified by its Order ID and its Checkout Email.

10. Breach of the Licence

10.1 If we have reasonable grounds to believe that you have breached any of clauses 6.2(b) to 6.2(e), or that you have distributed a Digital Book, or allowed it to be distributed, in breach of clause 6.2(a):

(a) the Licence for that Digital Book ends immediately, without any Refund, and you must delete all copies of it in your possession or control;

(b) we may refuse to accept further Orders from you;

(c) we and the Rights Holders may pursue any remedy available under the law, including a claim for damages; and

(d) we may disclose details of the Order to the affected Rights Holders, our professional advisers and the competent authorities, as described in the Privacy Policy.

10.2 A copy of a Digital Book carrying the Order ID of your Order that is found distributed in breach of clause 6.2 is evidence that the copy came from your Order. You may show us that it did not.

11. Intellectual property

11.1 The Digital Books and the books, covers, descriptions and samples shown on the Site belong to their Rights Holders and are protected by copyright.

11.2 The Qoot Books name and mark, and the design and text of the Site other than the content described in clause 11.1, belong to Qoote.

11.3 Nothing on the Site grants you any right in any of this content beyond viewing it on the Site and the Licence.

12. Acceptable use of the Site

12.1 You must not:

(a) use the Site for any unlawful purpose;

(b) interfere with the operation or security of the Site;

(c) access the Site by any means other than the interfaces we make available;

(d) scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-copy any content of the Site, including samples, covers and descriptions, by automated means, except for ordinary indexing by public search engines in accordance with the Site’s robots.txt file; or

(e) use any content of the Site to train, fine-tune or otherwise develop any artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model.

13. Our liability

13.1 We provide the Site and the Digital Books with reasonable care and skill.

13.2 To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims connected with an Order is limited to the amount you paid for that Order, and we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss.

13.3 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or any right you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under the law that applies to you.

14. Events outside our control

14.1 We are not responsible for any delay or failure to perform our obligations caused by events outside our reasonable control, including failures of hosting, email, payment or network services, acts of government, and natural events. If such an event affects an Order, we will tell you as soon as reasonably possible and perform our obligations as soon as the event allows.

15. Notices

15.1 We communicate with you by email to the Checkout Email or, where there is no Order, to the address from which you wrote to us. You may give us notice by email to hello@qootbooks.com.

15.2 A notice given by email under clause 15.1 is a notice in writing for the purposes of these Terms and the Policies. It is treated as received when sent, unless the sender receives notice that it was not delivered.

16.1 If you believe that content on the Site or a Digital Book infringes your rights, email hello@qootbooks.com identifying the work concerned, where it appears, the rights you hold and how we can contact you. We act on complaints where appropriate.

17. Changes to these Terms

17.1 We may update these Terms. The version published on this page applies to your use of the Site from its date and to Orders placed on or after that date.

17.2 Each Order is governed by the version of these Terms and the Policies in force when it was placed. We will not change the terms of an Order you have already placed.

17.3 We keep every previous version of these Terms and the Policies and will provide, on request, the version that applied to your Order.

18. General

18.1 Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.

18.2 No waiver. A delay or failure by us to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to do so.

18.3 Transfer. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer our rights and obligations to a successor to our business; this will not reduce your rights.

18.4 Entire agreement. These Terms, the Policies and the Product Page information described in clause 4.2 are the entire agreement between you and us for each Order.

19. Governing law and disputes

19.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Sharjah.

19.2 If you have a complaint, please write to us first so that we can try to resolve it.

19.3 Any dispute that we cannot resolve with you directly will be heard by the courts of Sharjah, without prejudice to any right you have under mandatory law to bring proceedings elsewhere.
